Before COVID, I had a busy schedule balancing teaching yoga, work, and family life. I always found the idea of attending massage school intriguing. Then during the pandemic, I stopped teaching yoga, and when things began to return to normal, I discovered the California Holistic Institute, a fantastic massage school near me.
Massage school was a transformative experience! Despite having a solid understanding of human anatomy from my yoga background, massage school provided an even deeper dive (pun intended) into anatomy. The teachers were incredibly experienced, and the school offered dual tracks in Eastern and Western massage. I decided to pursue both. My foundational training was in Swedish massage, followed by studies in Thai, Myofascial, Trigger Point, Chair, Shiatsu, Reiki, Cupping, Hot Stones, Aromatherapy, Sports, and Deep Tissue massage. Each modality has its own unique benefits. My favorite part of massage school was the practice of giving and receiving massages. Trading massages several times a week was especially healing, helping me recover from the lack of yoga teaching during COVID and addressing lingering injuries.
I understand that it can be overwhelming for clients to grasp the differences between all these techniques. Therefore, I focus on understanding how each client feels what each client wants from their massage and selecting the best methods to achieve those goals.
Currently, I have a few private clients who come to my home for massages. If you’d like to visit me please fill out this form. I also work as a Massage Therapist at Mount Madonna’s Kaya Kalpa Wellness Center. If you’d like to book a massage with me there, please send me an email to coordinate a time.
